I’m curious about technology and how we can use it to power our imagination, creativity and productivity in a meaningful way. I believe design thinking combined with a focus to craft leads to great products, work and life.
I thrive in the explorative approach to building products. Tinkering with new systems, creating generative coding patterns, and solving complex problems keeps my mind running.
"Don't worry about what anybody else is going to do… The best way to predict the future is to invent it. Really smart people with reasonable funding can do just about anything that doesn't violate too many of Newton's Laws!" - Alan Kay
Timeline
2024
Working on something new and exciting at Dazzle Rocks.
2020 - 2023
We have been developing a game called Super Spatial from 2020 onwards, it is an open world building game for the social generation. Thousands of players joined the closed and open beta during the testing periods. We built for it:
- Custom games backend designed for social MMO games
- 3D world building system for very large-scale worlds
- Interactive objects, furniture and playable content
- 1000’s of in-game locations made by players
2015 - 2020
Originally we were making 2D games but quickly turned into 3D games after realizing most games will be 3D in the future. We made 3D runner game with multiplayer and generative-level features, unique characters and abilities for each of them.
We also made another game called 7 Legends, which was an resource-management town builder game with a character-based metagame and real-time multiplayer in shared areas.
2014
I co-founded Dazzle Rocks, a mobile games studio in Helsinki.
2011 - 2012
When Angry Birds was just launched I was forming a new company in Stockholm focused on digital R&D and technology related to location-based services. Our team got the opportunity, so we took the chance and moved back to Finland to work at Rovio Entertainment for the Angry Birds franchise. Lot of learnings from the hyper growth period of scaling from 100’s to more than 500+ people in short time while releasing many (sometimes) experimental features and products globally. I participated among other projects to:
- Angry Birds Magic, a location-based game extension to original Angry Birds game.
- Angry Birds Smart TV, a gesture-controlled collaboration with Samsung for the smart TVs.
- Numerous smaller game and R&D integrations, advertising dashboards and internal tools
2010 - 2011
I was looking to broaden my perspective on the global scene and moved to study digital media at Hyper Island in Stockholm, Sweden. I also worked on project-basis with several companies in creative tech roles for their campaigns and products in Sweden.
2009 - 2010
I was working as a lead developer in a web-based music startup called SongHi in Helsinki. The service was ahead of its time by introducing a social network for music creators. It was a multiplayer music studio with avatars, instruments, own sound engine, visual composing tools and online features all running in the browser. My work was about Flash scripting, software architecture and user experience development of the application which was quickly growing into a modular, large software.
Outside of work
I enjoy going to nature and hiking, bicycle rides and to challenge myself on different sports. I’ve played squash actively when I was younger and now enjoy tennis and padel at times. I like cooking and exploring new methods and flavour combinations. I also enjoy reading biographies, non-fiction, graphic design and industrial design magazines, economics history and cookbooks.
